The early “straight axle” Corvettes are still loved by many for their purity and period style. For most enthusiasts, the ultimate would be an example with the fuel-injected small-block, a four-speed, and 4.11 gears with Positraction, and that’s just how this example is equipped. The bright red paint with white “coves” and red interior is also a classic ’50s Corvette combination. The seller says this fuelie 283-cu.in. engine is the car’s original, and that the Corvette is entirely stock other than the wheels, though the factory steel wheels and wheel covers are said to be included in the sale. The details of the car’s history, including work that’s been done, make it sound like a ready-to-go example of the early V-8 ’Vette, and one that would look nearly new with the stock wheels reinstalled. Images of Corvettes exactly like this one have inspired plenty of daydreams over the years—this one looks ready to make them real.

DESCRIPTION
This 1959 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible is fitted with the 290-horsepower, 283-cu.in. Ramjet fuel-injected V8 with the solid-lifter camshaft, a four-speed transmission, and a 4.11:1 Positraction rear axle, per its seller, who says the engine is original to the car. If so, this Vette is 1-of-745 built with that engine option for 1959.

The C1 ‘Vette has also benefited from restoration work by the prior and current owners. “I purchased this car 16 years ago in Scottsdale, Arizona, the seller states. “It’s completely stock other than the wheels and tires and is in very good condition.”
